Wood borers are tiny beetles that feed on starch in wood by eating their way into it, leaving behind holes that can, over time, result in serious damage to soft & hard wood furniture. They are insects that damage wood at the larval stage for food. They form tunnel in wood while feeding and leave an emergence hole on the surface of the wood after becoming an adult. These emergence holes, ‘Pin Holes’ are visible and are usually the first signs of an active infestation of wood borers. After emergence of adult wood borers through pin hole, wooden frass (powder) keeps falling through hole, which is another sign of infestation.
These infestations require special inspection and treatment. After identification, Wood Preservative chemicals are injected into the tiny holes created by the wood borers with the help of a special syringe to manage beetle infestation in the wood. The surface of the wood is also sprayed with chemicals that contain a petroleum base as per requirement.
